Cook Islands News is a national newspaper with the latest news from Rarotonga and the Pa Enua (outer islands). They were needing an upgrade to their old, insecure website. The old site contained over 60,000 news articles and was hard to manage. Utopia worked with local specialist Raro IT Solutions Ltd to create the new website.  The CMS platform chosen for this project was WordPress.

After discussing content and functionality Utopia produced a mock-up of the new site using the logo and colours supplied.  This was fine-tuned and the final website implemented. Utopia extracted all the existing news articles and migrated them to the new website. This included all photos and fixing errors in the content. The migration was a huge effort and resulted in a large historical archive for the pacific. Extensive subscriber-only facilities were built. These included classified, paywall and banner advertising systems. These were all integrated with payment and their in-house accounting system.  

Utopia helped to arrange the website hosting.  Search Engine Optimisation was completed on the website pages and content.  The new website is fully responsive allowing it to work across multiple devices like phones and tablets.  The website is promoted on local Facebook groups which keeps their name in the local community. A website form on the contact page allows visitors to easily make an enquiry.
